Playing as a Goalkeeper
Hubert Busby Jr. played as a goalkeeper for many different football clubs. In 1993, he started his career with the Windsor Wheels in the Canadian National Soccer League.
He also played for several other teams, including the Toronto Lynx, Montreal Impact, and Vancouver Whitecaps. Busby Jr. even played for teams in England, like Oxford United and Crystal Palace, and in Portugal with Caldas Sport Clube.
From 2001 to 2003, Hubert Busby Jr. proudly played for the Jamaica national football team. This was a big achievement, representing his country on the international stage.
Becoming a Coach
After he stopped playing football, Hubert Busby Jr. went to Queen's University and earned a degree in sociology. He also got special coaching licenses, showing he was serious about becoming a coach. He gained over 10 years of coaching experience, including working with women's football programs at universities.
Early Coaching Roles
In 2003, Busby Jr. got his first professional coaching job with the Ottawa Wizards. He helped the team win a conference title and reach the playoffs. However, the team later had to leave the league.
The next year, in 2004, he became a coach for Canada's Youth Team in Eastern Canada. He also worked as a technical director for the Kanata Soccer Club. That same year, he coached Ottawa St. Anthony Italia, helping them win the Ontario Cup.

Later Coaching Successes
After leaving the Lynx, Busby Jr. coached the AFC Leopards in 2006. He then moved on to work with the Whitecaps FC Academy.
In 2009, he became the head coach for the Vancouver Whitecaps Women team. Later, in 2013, he took on the role of Head Coach and general manager for the Seattle Sounders Women.
Coaching Jamaica's Women's Team
Hubert Busby Jr. has played a significant role in coaching the Jamaica women's national team. In 2019, he was an assistant coach for the team during their journey to the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup in France.
In 2020, he became the Head Coach for the Jamaica Women's national team for their Olympic qualifying matches. After a break, he was re-appointed as the Jamaican Women's head coach in 2024. This happened after an investigation into some claims against him was closed without a judgment.
