Career Highlights

Early Life and Music Start (1990–2011)

Hubert Wu was born in Hong Kong on March 27, 1990. He went to Lam Tin Methodist Primary School and Diocesan Boys' School. Later, he studied at Hong Kong Polytechnic University and graduated in 2013.

In 2010, Hubert joined a singing contest called The Voice 2. He was named the Most Improved contestant and finished as the first runner-up. This success led him to sign a contract with TVB, a big TV company in Hong Kong. In the same year, he won first place at the 2010 TVB International Chinese New Talent Singing Championship. In 2011, he won a bronze award at the CMB Chin Chin Star Festival in Korea.

First Albums and Awards (2012–2013)

On February 6, 2012, Hubert signed a music deal with Stars Shine International. His first album, Couple Getaway, came out on September 14. It quickly became the best-selling album in its first week!

In November, he held his first mini-concert. His album also received a gold certification, meaning it sold a lot of copies. Hubert won "Best New Artist" awards from several music shows, like Metro Hits Awards and RTHK Top 10 Gold Songs Awards. Because Couple Getaway was so popular, he released a special "Dual Edition" in 2013.

On October 2, 2013, Hubert released his second album, The Butterfly Lovers. This album was popular because of a song he sang for the TV show Karma Rider. When Stars Shine International closed down, he signed with Voice Entertainment.

Singing, Hosting, and Acting (2014–2015)

In 2014, Hubert sang many songs for TV dramas. He sang a duet with Kate Tsui for The Ultimate Addiction. He also sang the theme song for Rear Mirror. In July, he started hosting the music show Jade Solid Gold. He also had a small acting role as an accountant trainee in the drama Young Charioteers.

In 2015, Hubert acted in the drama Blue Veins. He kept singing theme songs for TVB dramas, including a duet with Alfred Hui for Eye in the Sky. He also sang with Alfred Hui and Fred Cheng for the 2015 Miss Hong Kong Pageant.

In August, Hubert released a new song called "A Better Tomorrow". In October, he released "Knowing", which quickly became number one on the iTunes Single Chart. His third album, Knowing, came out on December 2. It topped the HMV and iTunes album charts.

Rising Acting Star (2016–Present)

A song from his album Knowing, called "Let Me Let Go", was very popular on the Jade Solid Gold Chart. In April 2016, the TVB drama Blue Veins aired, where Hubert played a vampire. He also hosted a reality show called Summer Holiday with Alfred Hui and Jinny Ng.

In late 2016, Hubert took on a role in the supernatural drama The Exorcist's Meter. In March 2017, he joined another TVB drama, My Ages Apart.

In 2017, Hubert released new songs like "Imperfect Me" and "Friend Zone". When The Exorcist's Meter aired, it was a huge hit. Hubert played a character named Shek Kam Dong and became very well-known for his acting. His album, I Was Here, was released in December 2017.

In 2019, Hubert filmed the sequel, The Exorcist's 2nd Meter, which aired in May 2020. His song "Mortals Don't Know About Love" from the show was one of the most streamed songs of the year. His song "Are You Happy?" was released in July 2020 and quickly got over a million views online. For his role in The Exorcist's 2nd Meter, Hubert was nominated for "Best Actor" and "Most Popular Male Character" at the 2020 TVB Anniversary Awards.

In January 2021, Hubert won the "Most Popular Male Singer" award. In mid-2021, his contract with TVB ended, and he joined Shaw Brothers Pictures. Later that year, he played the main male lead in two TVB dramas: A Love of No Words and Hello Misfortune.
