Starting M-1: A New Era in Radio
In 1989, something very exciting happened. Hubertas Grušnys worked with a friend to start a radio station called "M-1". This was a huge deal! M-1 was the very first private radio station in Lithuania. It was also the first private radio station in all of post-communist Eastern Europe. Sadly, Hubertas Grušnys passed away on October 21, 2006. He died in a private plane crash. The accident happened near the Pociūnai Airport in a town called Prienai. He was flying in a Diamond DA42 Twin Star plane.
