Hugo Travers (born 6 April 1997 in Versailles, France) is a French journalist and YouTuber. He is better known by his online name, HugoDécrypte, which means "HugoDeciphers". He is famous for his videos and interviews that explain the news in a simple way. Many young people in France watch his content to stay informed.

About Hugo Travers
Early Life and School
Hugo Travers was born on April 6, 1997, in Versailles, a city near Paris, France. His dad is British and works in marketing, and his mom works in human resources.
He finished high school with a special diploma called a "baccalauréat économique et social (ES)". This diploma focuses on economics and social sciences. In 2015, he started studying at Sciences Po Paris, a famous university. He graduated in 2020 with a master's degree in media and creative industries. He always wanted to become a journalist.
Hugo's Career Journey
Starting with Radio Londres
In 2012, when Hugo was still in school, he started a website called "RadioLondres" (Radio London). This website shared news about current events. He chose the name because it was used on Twitter to share election results when it was supposed to be quiet before the official announcement.
HugoDécrypte: Explaining the News
In 2015, during his first year at university, Hugo created his YouTube channel, "HugoDécrypte". His goal was to make short videos that explained the news in a journalistic way for young people.
Over the next few years, he interviewed many important people. These included candidates for the French presidential election in 2017 and the European Parliament election in 2019. He even interviewed the French president, Emmanuel Macron, in 2019.
In 2018, YouTube supported his work through their "Creators for Change" program.
When the COVID-19 pandemic started in March 2020, Hugo began a daily video series called "Point Coronavirus". This series quickly started covering all kinds of news, so it was renamed "Actus du Jour" (News of the Day). He still makes these daily news updates, and they are also available as a podcast.
In 2020, Hugo also helped start Frame55, a company that works with online content creators.
On February 5, 2021, he interviewed the Minister of Higher Education, Frédérique Vidal, live on his Twitch channel. They talked about the problems students faced because universities were closed during the pandemic.
By 2021, the HugoDécrypte channel had 13 staff members, mostly young journalists. By 2024, his team grew to 25 employees.
In September 2021, Hugo was commenting live on a political debate on TV. The TV channel reported him and other streamers for showing their broadcast. This led to Hugo's channel being banned for 48 hours. Many people, including one of the politicians in the debate, supported Hugo and the other streamers.
On September 4, 2023, Hugo interviewed President Emmanuel Macron again. They discussed the future of French education. This interview was broadcast live on YouTube and TikTok.
On April 17, 2024, Hugo traveled to Ukraine to interview President Volodymyr Zelenskyy about the Russo-Ukrainian War.
Mashup Talk Show
On January 13, 2022, Hugo started a weekly talk show called "Mashup". This show is broadcast live on Twitch.
Elan: Helping Young People with Jobs
On March 31, 2024, Hugo launched a new digital media company called "Elan". This company helps young people learn about different jobs and find work. Elan also launched a job search website for young people. They share content on Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, and LinkedIn.
TV and Radio Appearances
Hugo Travers has also appeared on traditional TV and radio. During the 2017 French presidential election, he was a commentator on the TV channel LCI.
