Huiñao is a mountain located in the Andes mountain range in Peru. It stands about 3,645 meters (11,959 feet) high. This mountain is found in the Arequipa Region, specifically in La Unión Province. It is part of the Cotahuasi District.

Huiñao is special because it is situated within the amazing Cotahuasi Canyon. From its top, you can see fantastic views across the canyon and the mountains around it. There is also an ancient archaeological site right on top of the mountain.

Cultural Importance

Local people in the area consider Huiñao to be an apu. An apu is a sacred mountain or mountain spirit in the traditional beliefs of the Andean people. They believe these mountains are powerful and protect them.

Location and Views

Huiñao is located in the Cotahuasi Canyon, which is one of the deepest canyons in the world. Being inside the canyon makes Huiñao unique among other taller mountains nearby.
