Hurley Tarver (born November 30, 1975) is a former American football player. He played as a defensive back, a position that helps stop the other team from scoring. Hurley played college football at the University of Central Oklahoma. He also went to Western Hills High School in Benbrook, Texas. During his career, Hurley played for many teams, including those in the NFL, the AFL, and the CFL. He even won two big championships!

Early Life and High School Sports
Hurley Tarver grew up playing many sports. At Western Hills High School, he played football, basketball, and also competed in track and field. In football, he was a safety, a key defensive position. He was so good that he was named first-team all-district and even an all-American. This means he was one of the best high school players in the country! In track and field, he was the triple jump champion for his district.
College Football Days
Hurley continued his football career at the University of Central Oklahoma. He played as a defensive back for the Central Oklahoma Bronchos. In his junior year, he made 62 tackles, caught 4 interceptions, and broke up 12 passes. An interception is when a defensive player catches a pass meant for the other team. In his senior year, he had 57 tackles, 2 interceptions, and stopped 9 passes. He was also chosen as an all-regional second-team player and received an all-American honorable mention.
Professional Football Journey
After college, Hurley Tarver started his professional football career. He joined many different teams across several leagues.
NFL Teams
Hurley first signed with the San Francisco 49ers in 1998. Later, he was part of the Cleveland Browns in 1999. In 2000, he joined the Dallas Cowboys. He also played for the Green Bay Packers from 2001 to 2002. For the Packers, he was sometimes on the main team and sometimes on the practice squad, which is a group of players who train with the team.

Arena Football League (AFL)
Hurley also played in the Arena Football League (AFL), which is played indoors on a smaller field. He joined the Tampa Bay Storm in 2003. With the Storm, he won the ArenaBowl XVII championship, which is the AFL's biggest game! In 2004, he played for the Chicago Rush. He later joined the Las Vegas Gladiators in 2005.
Canadian Football League (CFL)
In 2004, Hurley signed with the Toronto Argonauts in the Canadian Football League (CFL). The CFL has slightly different rules, like a bigger field and three downs instead of four. With the Argonauts, Hurley won another championship, the Grey Cup, which is the CFL's championship game. Winning two different championships in two different leagues is a big achievement!
