School History and Development
Around 1995, a city council member named Jerry Dittrich wanted Benbrook to have its own school district. He felt that the schools serving Benbrook were too far away. Over the next 20 years, the Fort Worth school district started building new schools closer to Benbrook.
Benbrook Middle School opened in August 2011. Before that, students went to other middle schools like Monning Middle School. In 2014, a combined middle and high school opened. The plan is to turn Westpark Elementary into a middle school and build a new elementary school next door. The new Westpark Elementary opened in 2016. Once the old elementary building becomes a middle school, the combined middle and high school will become just a high school.
