The Ialomiţa River (Râul Ialomiţa in Romanian) is an important river in the southern part of Romania. It starts high up in the Bucegi Mountains of the Carpathians and flows all the way to the mighty Danube river.

The very top part of the river is sometimes known by other names, like Valea Obârşiei River or Obârşia Ialomiţei River.

The Ialomiţa River's Journey

The Ialomiţa River is about 417 kilometers (or 259 miles) long. That's a pretty long journey across Romania!

Where the River Starts

The Ialomiţa River begins its flow in the beautiful Bucegi Mountains. These mountains are part of the larger Carpathian mountain range.

Where the River Ends

After traveling a long distance, the Ialomiţa River finally joins the Danube river. It meets the Danube near a place called Hârşova.
