Early Life and Learning
Ida Kleijnen was born on March 17, 1936. She learned to cook all by herself. This means she didn't go to a special cooking school. She practiced and became very good on her own.
Earning a Michelin Star
Ida first worked at a place called Prinses Juliana. Later, she changed her guest house into her own restaurant. She named it De Lindenhorst. In 1983, her restaurant won a Michelin star. This is a very important award for restaurants. It means the food and service are excellent. Ida kept this star for many years, until 1994. Then, she gave the restaurant to her son, Paul.
Top Chef and Teacher
In 1991, Ida Kleijnen was voted the best female chef in the entire Netherlands. She was very talented! After running her restaurant, she shared her cooking skills. From 1997 to 2010, she gave cooking lessons to others.
Ida Kleijnen passed away on January 15, 2019.
