The Iglesia de San Martín (Pereda) is an old church located in Pereda (Grado). This village is part of the Grado area in Asturias, Spain. It is a parish church, which means it serves a local community.

This church is very old. It was built in the 12th century, which is over 800 years ago! However, some old papers show that a church might have been here even earlier. A king named Ordoño I of Asturias created a church on this spot in the year 857. The building is a great example of Romanesque architecture, a style popular in Europe a long time ago.

Recognized as Cultural Heritage

In 2019, the government decided that the Iglesia de San Martín (Pereda) was very important. They added it to the Inventory of the Cultural Heritage of Asturias. This means it is a special building that needs to be protected because of its history and beauty.

The area protected includes the church building itself, which is about 189 square meters. It also includes the land around it, making the total protected area over 1,000 square meters.
