Ikuo Takahara (高原 郁夫, Takahara Ikuo, born October 14, 1957) is a former Japanese football player. He played as a forward, which is a player whose main job is to score goals for their team. Takahara was a talented player who played for a famous Japanese club, Mitsubishi Motors, and also represented his country on the Japan national team.

Club Career Highlights

Ikuo Takahara was born on October 14, 1957. After finishing high school, he joined the football club Mitsubishi Motors in 1976. This club was very successful during his time there.

Winning Championships

In 1978, Takahara's team, Mitsubishi Motors, had an amazing year. They won all three major football titles in Japan:

  • Japan Soccer League (the top league)
  • JSL Cup (a cup competition)
  • Emperor's Cup (another important cup)

The team continued their success, also winning the 1980 Emperor's Cup and the 1981 JSL Cup. Takahara played for Mitsubishi Motors until he retired in 1981. During his time in the league, he played in 64 games and scored 15 goals.

Playing for Japan

In March 1980, Ikuo Takahara was chosen to play for the Japan national team. This was for the qualification games for the 1980 Summer Olympics.

Takahara made his first appearance for the national team on March 22, 1980. In this game against South Korea, he scored a goal! Overall, he played 4 games for Japan in 1980 and scored 2 goals.
