Ilfenesh Hadera was born on December 1, 1985, in Harlem, New York. She shares that her background is half Ethiopian and half white. Her father is a Tigrayan refugee. He started an organization in Harlem called the African Services Committee. This group helps African refugees. Before she became an actress, Ilfenesh volunteered with her father's organization.
Her Education Journey
Ilfenesh went to The Harlem School of the Arts to study performing. After that, she attended the Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School. This school is famous for its arts programs. Later, she earned a special degree in text and performance studies. She got this degree from RADA and King's College London.

Ilfenesh Hadera started her acting career in 2010. Her first role was in a film called 1/20.
