About Iliana Ortega
Early Art and Photography
For the first ten years of her art career, Iliana Ortega focused on "site-specific installations." These are art pieces made especially for a certain location. She mixed ideas from painting and abstract drawing into these works.
Since 2010, Iliana has mostly worked with photography. She uses deep ideas to guide how she takes pictures. She also thinks about how light works and uses those ideas in her photos. Her paintings and drawings are inspired by modern art styles.
New Ways of Creating Art
Today, Iliana Ortega likes to try out different materials and mix them together. She also enjoys creating art without a strict plan, letting her ideas flow freely. In her newest projects, she uses drones to take photos and videos. After capturing the footage, she changes it using computers and by hand.
Where Her Art Has Been Shown
Iliana's artwork has been shown all over the world. Some places include the Anahuacalli Museum in Mexico, which was part of the Diego Rivera XIII Biennial art show. Her art has also been displayed at the Higher Pictures Generation Gallery and the Museo del Vidrio.
She was also chosen for a special art program. This was the Edward F. Albee Foundation Artist Residency Fellowship in Montauk, New York.
