About Ilopango
Ilopango is home to El Salvador's second-largest airport. It is called Ilopango International Airport. This airport is currently used for special charter flights. It is also used by the Salvadoran military.
There are plans to use the airport more in the future. As more tourists visit El Salvador, the main airport, Comalapa International Airport, might get too busy. Ilopango Airport could help handle the extra flights.
The main office for the Civil Aviation Authority is also located at the airport. This authority helps make sure that air travel in El Salvador is safe and organized. They set rules for planes and airports.
