Description: Lock 28 of the Ohio & Erie Canal, Vicinity of Peninsula, Ohio. Lock chamber, looking north. Original construction dated to 1827. With a depth of 16 feet, Lock #28 was the deepest lock in that portion of the Ohio and Erie Canal between Akron and Cleveland, hence its popular name, "Deep Lock".
