All best Manuel Aguilar From: Craig [] Sent: Sunday, January 25, 2009 5:52 PM To: Aguilar, Manuel Subject: Am looking for Ulama photo for Wikipedia articles, please Dear Manuel:: My name is Craig Fisher and I am an editor at Wikipedia. I have been working on the articles concerning the Mesoamerican ballgame (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mesoamerican_ballgame) and ulama (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ulama_game). Readers of both these articles in the English Wikipedia, and readers accessing articles in other Wikipedia's other languages, would benefit if we had a photo of a modern day ulama player in action, for example showing him hitting the ball with his hip. I saw your recent announcement of the Cal State LA conference (which, sadly, I will be unable to attend) and thought I'd write and ask you. Do you have such an action photo that you could donate to our efforts? Honestly, any action photo would be better than what we have now -- no photo. Wikipedia is globally the 8th most-viewed site on the Internet and so any photo or photos (and these articles) would do much to spread information on ulama. For example, the Ulama article is holds the top spot on a Google search for "ulama game". Since Wikipedia is freely distributed, we would need to license your photo under the Creative Commons Share-alike Attribution (or similar) license. This license means you are granting permission for all others (not just Wikipedia) to use, copy, and share your materials freely -- and even potentially use them commercially -- so long as they provide attribution or not prevent others from using or copying them freely. The photographer could still retain the copyright. You can read this license in full at: creativecommons.org/licenses/by/2.5/ Let me know your thoughts on this, and thanks for your time, Craig Fisher
