Description: Map of the states and territories of the United States as it was from August 1821 to 1822. On August 10 1821, part of Missouri Territory was admitted as the state of Missouri; the rest became unorganized. On March 30 1822, the two Floridas were organized as Florida Territory. Sometime during this period, the spelling of Arkansaw Territory changed to Arkansas Territory. Also, on September 27 1821, the Viceroyalty of New Spain achieved independence as Mexico.
