About Ink Dish

Ink Dish is an American company that creates beautiful tableware. Tableware includes things like plates, bowls, and cups. They are known for using designs from talented contemporary artists. These artists have unique styles that make the dinnerware special.

Who Started Ink Dish?

Ink Dish was founded in 2008. It was started by a husband and wife team, David Harding and Caroline Pople. They wanted to bring artistic designs to everyday items like dinner plates.

Meet the Lead Designer

Caroline Pople's mother, Julie Pople, is the main designer at Ink Dish. Julie is a very experienced artist. She studied Textile Design at Liverpool Art College in 1971. Before joining Ink Dish, Julie designed ceramics for big companies. She worked for Royal Stafford in England. She also led the design team for PT Sango's European branch.

Working with Famous Artists

Ink Dish often works with different artists to create new designs.

Paul Timman's Tattoo Art

In 2008, Ink Dish teamed up with artist Paul Timman. He is famous for his tattoo art. Together, they made a line of porcelain dishes inspired by tattoos. Paul Timman wanted to show tattoo art in a new way. He hoped to bring it into everyday life without people needing to get a tattoo. His "Irezumi" dish design was very popular. It was even named one of the top designs in 2009 by Metropolitan Home magazine. This design was based on a Japanese style of tattooing called Irezumi.

Other Artist Partnerships

Ink Dish continued to work with more artists. In 2010, they partnered with modern artists David Palmer and Dana Oldfather. In 2011, they started working with artist Alyson Fox.

Ink Dish also creates patterns for other big tableware companies. These include Villeroy & Boch, Macy's, and Corelle. Some of their most well-known designs include Paul Timman's "Cherry Ink," Alyson Fox's "December," and Dana Oldfather's "Kites."
