What is Ink Dish?
Ink Dish is a company that makes everyday items like plates and bowls special. They do this by adding amazing art to them. Instead of plain dishes, you get dishes that are like pieces of art. This makes meal times more fun and stylish.
The Founders and Designers
Ink Dish was founded by two people, David Harding and Caroline Pople. They had the idea to bring unique art to dinner tables. Caroline Pople's mother, Julie Pople, is also a very important part of the company. She is the main designer for Ink Dish.
Julie Pople's Journey
Julie Pople has a long history in art and design. She studied Textile Design at Liverpool Art College in 1971. After college, Julie worked as a designer for a pottery company called Royal Stafford. This company was in Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, a famous area for pottery in England. Later, she became the head designer for the European part of another ceramic company, PT Sango. Her experience helps Ink Dish create beautiful and lasting designs.
Cool Collaborations
Ink Dish loves to team up with talented artists. These partnerships bring fresh and exciting designs to their tableware. They have worked with several well-known artists to create unique collections.
Tattoo Art on Plates
In 2008, Ink Dish teamed up with Paul Timman. He is a famous tattoo artist. Together, they created a line of porcelain dinnerware inspired by tattoos. Paul Timman wanted to show that tattoos are a form of art. He said he wanted to "introduce tattooing into everyday life" without people needing to get a tattoo. One of their designs, called Irezumi, was very popular. Irezumi is a special Japanese style of tattooing. This design was even named one of the top 100 designs of 2009 by Metropolitan Home magazine.
More Amazing Artists
Ink Dish continued to work with more modern artists. In 2010, they partnered with David Palmer and Dana Oldfather. Then, in 2011, they started working with artist Alyson Fox. These collaborations helped Ink Dish offer a wide range of artistic styles.
Where You Can Find Ink Dish Designs
Ink Dish doesn't just sell its own products. They also design patterns for other big tableware companies. You might find their designs on dishes from Villeroy & Boch, Macy's, and Corelle. Some of their most famous designs include Paul Timman's Cherry Ink, Alyson Fox's December, and Dana Oldfather's Kites. These designs show how art can be part of our daily lives.
