Iragul is a small Aboriginal community located in the Goldfields–Esperance region of Western Australia. It is found within the Shire of Dundas.
Land Rights and Native Title
This community is located in an area where the Ngadju people have a registered native title claim. Native title means that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have special rights to their traditional lands and waters. These rights come from their traditional laws and customs.
How the Community is Run
The Iragul community is managed by its own organization called the Iragul Aboriginal Corporation. This group was officially set up on February 13, 1989. It helps the community make decisions and manage its affairs.
Community Planning and Development
The Iragul community has a special plan called "Layout Plan No.1". This plan helps organize how the land and buildings in the community are used. It follows rules set by the State Planning Policy for Aboriginal Settlements. The community agreed to this plan on April 20, 2004. The Western Australian Planning Commission also approved it on January 17, 2006.
