Early Life and Family
Irena was born in Moscow in 1982. Her father, Vladimir Mikhailovich Filippov, used to be a Minister of Education in Russia. Her mother, Natalia Sergeevna Filippova, was a math teacher for 20 years.
When she first started on TV, Irena told a funny story. She joked that her last name, Ponaroshku, came from a Polish musician. She even said his family moved from Poland to the Soviet Union in 1989. In 2005, Irena confirmed it was just a joke. She said it was a Polish-Hungarian last name, like characters in funny stories.
Irena studied at the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia. She graduated with honors from the Faculty of Economics. She specialized in marketing and also learned English and French.
Career in Television
Irena started her TV career in 1999 at MTV Russia. She began as an assistant producer. Later, she became a casting editor and then a program editor. By the age of 20, she became a host for the show Total Show.
She hosted many other shows on MTV Russia, including Night Flirt and Russian Top 10. She also hosted Ponaroshku Clinic and Ponaroshku Crazy News. At the same time, she worked on other channels. She hosted Morning on TNT on TNT TV channel. She also hosted Star On-line on Zvezda TV channel.
In April 2013, Irena left MTV Russia. The channel stopped broadcasting about a month later. Over the years, Irena hosted shows on other channels too. These included Big City and Infomania on STS TV channel. She also worked on Europa Plus TV and Mama TV channel. Later, she hosted On Health: Ponaroshku and Seriously on TV-3 TV channel.
Since October 2017, she has been a host for the TV Channel SPA segment on the popular Evening Urgant show.
Online Presence and Writing
In January 2012, Irena started an account on Instagram. Her account quickly became very popular. It gained more than 2 million followers.
Irena also has a career as a writer. From 2006 to 2017, she wrote a funny column for the weekly magazine OK!. She also wrote for Maxim magazine from 2008 to 2014. Since January 2018, Irena has been a columnist for Vogue Russia magazine.
Personal Life and Interests
From December 2010 until 2020, Irena was married to a Russian DJ. They had a son together, who was born on March 31, 2011.
Irena is very interested in healthy living. She practices yoga and encourages others to do the same. She also promotes healthy eating and eco-friendly actions.
