Irene Luxbacher facts for kids
Irene Luxbacher is a Canadian artist, author, and illustrator of children's books. She was born in Toronto, Ontario, on December 10, 1970.
Irene studied Art History at Queen's University. She then learned Fine Art, focusing on drawing and painting, at Emily Carr University of Art and Design. She has also taught art workshops in Toronto public schools and at The Avenue Road Arts School. Her art books, like the "Jumbo Books" and "Starting Art Series," are very popular with librarians, teachers, and parents, especially those who teach their children at home.
In 2009, Irene was a finalist for the 2009 Governor General's Awards. This was for her amazing illustrations in the book The Imaginary Garden, which was published by Kids Can Press. The story for that book was written by Andrew Larsen.
