Irville is a small place in Ohio, a state in the United States. It's known as an "unincorporated community." This means it's a group of homes and businesses that isn't officially a town or city with its own local government. Instead, it's part of a larger area called Muskingum County.

What is Irville?

Irville is a quiet community located in Muskingum County, in the eastern part of Ohio. As an unincorporated community, it doesn't have its own separate city government or mayor. Instead, it's managed by the county government, which helps with services like roads and public safety.

How Irville Started

The history of Irville goes back to the early 1800s. The community was first planned out in the year 1815. A person named John Irvine was responsible for creating the layout of the area. He decided to name the new community "Irville" in honor of himself.

A year after Irville was established, in 1816, an important service arrived: a post office. This post office allowed people in Irville to send and receive letters and packages, connecting them to other places. The post office served the community for a long time, operating for 86 years, until it finally closed its doors in 1902.
