Isaac Weetra's Early Life

In 2006, Isaac had a special chance to travel to South Africa. He was part of a team called the "Flying Boomerangs". This team was made up of young Indigenous Australian players. They played against the South African Buffaloes team.

Isaac Weetra was chosen to join the Port Adelaide Magpies team. This team plays in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL). He was picked as number 62 in the 2006 AFL Draft. This is like a special selection event for new players.

In 2005, Isaac won an important award. It was called the Naish Travers Medal. He won it for being the best player on the field. This was during the Grand Final of the Whyalla Football League. He played for his local club, West Whyalla. Isaac's older brother, Paul, also won an award in 2007. He won the T.A Evans medal for being the best and fairest player in the reserves league. Paul played for his club, South Whyalla.

Playing in the AFL

Isaac Weetra played his very first game in the AFL in 2008. This was in Round 1 of the 2008 AFL season. He played against the Hawthorn team. The game took place at the famous Melbourne Cricket Ground.

After his second game, Isaac was moved from the main team. He played against the Western Bulldogs in that second game. For the rest of the 2008 season, he played for Melbourne's partner team. This team was called Sandringham. They play in the Victorian Football League (VFL).

At the end of the 2008 season, Isaac was no longer part of the Melbourne team. This means he was "delisted" from the club.

After the AFL

After leaving the AFL, Isaac Weetra went back to play for the Port Adelaide Magpies. He rejoined them for the start of the 2009 season. This team is in the SANFL, where he played before.
