Early Life and Football Beginnings
Playing for the Flying Boomerangs
In 2006, Isaac joined a special team called the "Flying Boomerangs." This team was made up of young Indigenous Australian players. They traveled to South Africa to play against the South African Buffaloes team.
Joining the Port Adelaide Magpies
Isaac started his football journey with the Port Adelaide Magpies. This team plays in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL). In 2005, he won the Naish Travers Medal. This award is for the best player in the Whyalla Football League Grand Final. He earned it while playing for his club, West Whyalla.
Drafted into the AFL
In the 2006 AFL Draft, Isaac was chosen by an AFL team. He was pick number 62. This meant he would get a chance to play in Australia's biggest football league.
AFL Career with Melbourne
Making His Debut
Isaac Weetra played his first AFL game in 2008. It was in Round 1 of the 2008 AFL season. He played for the Melbourne Demons against the Hawthorn team. This game took place at the famous Melbourne Cricket Ground.
