The Ishinomaki Line (called Ishinomaki sen in Japanese) is a railway line located in Miyagi Prefecture, Japan. It is run by the JR East system. This train line goes from Kogota Station in Misato all the way to Onagawa Station in Onagawa.
The Ishinomaki Line connects important train lines. It links the Tōhoku Main Line to the central coast of Miyagi Prefecture. At Kogota Station, it connects with the Rikuu East Line and the Tōhoku Main Line. At Maeyachi Station, it meets the Kesennuma Line. Finally, at Ishinomaki Station, it connects with the Senseki Line. Both Maeyachi and Ishinomaki stations are in Ishinomaki.
The special color for this train line is pink!
You might know about Suica cards, which are used to pay for train rides. On the Ishinomaki Line, you can usually only use Suica cards between Kogota and Ishinomaki stations. If you travel past those stations, there might be a different way to pay for your ticket using a Suica card.
In 2011, the line was affected by the big 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami. Parts of the line needed repairs before trains could run again.
