Israel Benjamin "Bo" Curtis (born September 11, 1932 – died February 16, 2012) was an American politician. He was a member of the Democratic Party. He served in the Louisiana House of Representatives for 16 years. He represented the 26th district.

Israel Curtis was born on September 11, 1932. He attended Peabody Magnet High School. After high school, he went to Grambling State University. There, he earned his Bachelor of Science degree.
He continued his education at Northwestern State University. He earned his master's degree there. Mr. Curtis also studied at other universities. These included Texas Christian University, Texas Southern University, and Michigan State University.
Serving His Country
Mr. Curtis proudly served in the United States Army. He was a soldier during the Korean War. This war took place from 1950 to 1953. After his military service, he remained involved with veterans. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. This group supports people who have served in wars.
Community and Political Work
Before becoming a state representative, Mr. Curtis was active in his community. He served on the Rapides Parish School Board. This board helps make decisions for local schools.
After moving to Alexandria, Louisiana, he took on several roles. He worked as a bodyguard for Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. King was a famous civil rights leader. Mr. Curtis also worked as a funeral director for a life insurance company.
