Ivan Dykhovichny was born in Moscow, which was then part of the Soviet Union. His father, Vladimir Abramovich Dykhovichny, was a well-known writer of songs. His mother, Alexandra Iosifovna Sinani, was a talented ballerina. Ivan grew up surrounded by creative people. He was also a close friend of the famous Russian singer and actor, Vladimir Vysotsky. Vysotsky even wrote a long poem dedicated to Ivan.
