Ivan Wilkerson Johnson (born April 10, 1984) is an American former professional basketball player. He played as a power forward. Ivan Johnson is known for his strong play and energy on the court.

He played college basketball at several schools. Later, he joined different professional teams around the world. These included teams in the NBA, the NBA D-League, and leagues in Asia and Europe.

College Career

Ivan Johnson played basketball for four different colleges. He started at two junior colleges. These were Cisco Junior College in Texas and Los Angeles Southwest College.

At L.A. Southwest College, he was a star player. He scored about 22 points and grabbed 12 rebounds per game. He also blocked over 2 shots per game. After that, he received a scholarship to the University of Oregon. He finished his college career at Cal State San Bernardino.

Professional Career

Early Career: D-League and Korea (2007–2010)

Johnson started his professional journey in the NBA D-League. This league helps players develop their skills. He played for the Anaheim Arsenal and Rio Grande Valley Vipers from 2007 to 2008.

After his time in the D-League, he moved to the Korean Basketball League (KBL). He played for the Changwon LG Sakers and Jeonju KCC Egis. During his time in Korea, he had a disagreement with a referee. Because of this, the KBL decided to suspend him from the league. He also had to pay a fine.

Playing for the Atlanta Hawks (2011–2012)

On December 9, 2011, Ivan Johnson signed with the Atlanta Hawks. This was a big step in his career. He played in the NBA.

On April 13, 2012, Johnson faced some team discipline. He was sent home and fined for his behavior. Just a few days later, on April 16, 2012, he had a great game. He scored a career-high 21 points against the Toronto Raptors.

Later, on May 12, 2012, the NBA fined him again. This was for an action he made towards a fan. On September 18, 2012, Johnson signed a new deal. He returned to play for the Atlanta Hawks for another year.

Playing in China (2013)

In August 2013, Johnson moved to China. He signed with the Zhejiang Golden Bulls team. This team plays in the CBA.

Short Time with Dallas (2014)

On July 29, 2014, Johnson signed with the Dallas Mavericks. However, he did not stay with the team for long. He was released by the Mavericks in October 2014.

Later that year, he joined the Texas Legends. This team is part of the NBA Development League. He played for them until February 2015.

Success in the Philippines (2015)

On February 18, 2015, Johnson joined the Talk 'N Text Tropang Texters. This team plays in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). On April 29, 2015, he helped his team win a championship. They won the 2015 PBA Commissioner's Cup.

Playing in Spain (2015)

In September 2015, Johnson signed with RETAbet.es GBC. This team is from Spain. He was supposed to play for them in the 2015–16 season. However, he left the team in October.

Return to the Philippines (2016)

On January 13, 2016, Johnson returned to the Tropang TNT team. This was the same team he won a championship with. He was their "import" player for the 2016 PBA Commissioner's Cup.

During this time, he faced some disciplinary actions. He was suspended for one game and fined. This was due to his actions during a game. He later apologized for his behavior. The league accepted his apology. His suspension was reduced to one season, and his fine was also lowered.

Other Teams (2016-2017)

In 2016, Johnson signed with Petrochimi Bandar Imam BC in Iran. However, he did not play for them. He then joined Caciques de Humacao for a second time. Later in 2016, he signed with Sagesse in the Lebanese Basketball League.

After playing in the BIG3 league, Johnson returned to 5-on-5 basketball. In 2017, he signed with Alab Pilipinas. This was his third time playing in the Philippines.
