Izabella Kuliffay (born December 29, 1863 – died January 19, 1945) was a talented Hungarian pianist and composer. She was born in a city called Pest, which is now part of Budapest. Izabella loved music from a young age and dedicated her life to it.

Her Musical Journey

Izabella began her music studies at the National Conservatory in Budapest. This was between 1877 and 1879. Later, she continued her training at the Budapest Academy of Music from 1879 to 1883. She learned from famous teachers like Kornel Abranyi and Gyula Erkel. A very important influence on her music was the legendary composer Franz Liszt.

After finishing her studies, Izabella Kuliffay became a music teacher in Budapest. She helped many young people learn to play instruments and understand music. She was also a leader in the music community. She served as the vice-president of the Hungarian Women’s Choral Union. This group helped women who loved to sing. Izabella also started a special school just for girls. She passed away in Budapest.

Izabella Kuliffay wrote several musical pieces. One of her known works is:

  • Magyar suite (zongorán a szerző) – This means "Hungarian Suite," and it was a piece for the piano, played by the composer herself.
