John Alfred Isaacs (born around 1861 – died 22 August 1944) was an important lawyer and politician in Victoria. He was often called J. A. Isaacs. His parents were Alfred and Rebecca Isaacs. John was also the brother of a very famous person, Sir Isaac Isaacs, who later became the Governor-General of Australia. John Isaacs married Edna Frances Davis later in his life.

John Isaacs was born in a place called Yackandandah in Victoria. He went to school in Beechworth, Victoria, which is another town in Victoria.
Career as a Lawyer
After finishing his education, John Isaacs became a solicitor. A solicitor is a type of lawyer who gives legal advice and prepares legal documents. He worked as a solicitor for many years, helping people with their legal needs. He later stopped working as a lawyer because he wasn't feeling well.
Time in Politics
John Isaacs also served in the government of Victoria. He was elected as a member for the area called Ovens. He represented Ovens in the Victorian Legislative Assembly from 1894 to 1902. The Victorian Legislative Assembly is like a state parliament where laws are made for Victoria. During this time, he lived in Auburn, Victoria.
Later Life and Family
On 13 April 1938, John Isaacs married Edna Frances Davis. Their wedding took place at "Moawa," which was the Isaacs family home in Hawthorn, Victoria. Edna was a singer. She also had her own home in St Kilda, Victoria. John Alfred Isaacs passed away in August 1944.
