James Bennett Williamson, born on December 18, 1956, is an American former professional boxer. He is best known for holding the World Boxing Council (WBC) light heavyweight title in 1985.

Becoming a Professional Boxer
James Williamson started his professional boxing career in 1979. Before that, he had a successful time as an amateur boxer. In 1985, he won the WBC Light Heavyweight Title. He earned this important championship by defeating Prince Mama Mohammed in a decision.
His Championship and Later Career
Williamson's time as a champion was short. He lost his WBC title in his very first defense against Dennis Andries. Even though he didn't fight for another major title, he continued his boxing journey. He moved up to the Heavyweight division, which is for much heavier boxers. He kept fighting until 1995. During this time, he faced some well-known heavyweights like Henry Akinwande, Peter McNeeley, Jimmy Thunder, and even the famous George Foreman.
