Ja'Ron K. Smith was born on July 29, 1982. He is an American political advisor. He worked for former President Donald Trump.
From April 2019 to November 2020, he was a Deputy Assistant to the President. He also served as the deputy director of the Office of American Innovation. Before that, he held other important roles in the Trump administration. He started as the director of urban affairs and revitalization in January 2017.
Early Life and Education
Ja'Ron Smith grew up in Cleveland, Ohio. His father worked in construction during the summer. In winter, he worked as a snow-plower.
Smith went to Immaculate Conception School. He later received a football scholarship. This allowed him to attend St. Peter Chanel High School in Bedford, Ohio. While playing high school football, he was teammates with Bam Childress and Steve Cargile.
Smith chose to attend Howard University. There, he studied Finance and Economics. He later earned a Master of Divinity degree from the Howard University Divinity School.
Political Career
While in college, Ja'Ron Smith gained experience in politics. He worked as an intern for Congressman J. C. Watts. He also worked for South Carolina Senator Tim Scott. Later, he worked for then-U.S. Representative Mike Pence.
In August 2018, Smith's role in the White House became more widely known. He was recognized as the highest-ranking Black aide in the White House Office. CNN featured a story about him that same week.
On November 6, 2020, Smith announced he had left his job. This happened after the 2020 United States presidential election.
