Ja'Ron K. Smith (born July 29, 1982) is an American political advisor. He worked for Donald Trump during his time as president. From April 2019 to November 2020, Smith was the Deputy Director of the Office of American Innovation. He also served as a special assistant to the president in different roles.
Ja'Ron Smith's Early Life and School
Ja'Ron Smith grew up in Cleveland, Ohio. His father worked in construction and cleared snow in winter. His mother worked at a gas station.
Smith went to Immaculate Conception School. He later received a football scholarship to St. Peter Chanel High School. While playing football there, he was teammates with Bam Childress and Steve Cargile. Smith chose to attend Howard University. He studied Finance and Economics. Later, he earned a Master of Divinity degree from Howard University's Divinity School.
Ja'Ron Smith's Career in Politics
While in college, Ja'Ron Smith worked as an intern for important political figures. He interned for Congressman J. C. Watts. He also worked for Senator Tim Scott and then-U.S. Representative Mike Pence.
In August 2018, Smith's role in the White House became more widely known. He was recognized as the highest-ranking Black aide in the White House Office. This showed his important position in the government.
On November 6, 2020, Smith announced that he had left his job. This happened after the 2020 United States presidential election.
