Jackie's Journey as an Artist
Jackie Urbanovic studied art at the Maryland Institute of Art. She earned a special degree called a Bachelor of Fine Arts. At first, she worked in graphic design, which is about creating visual ideas for things like ads or websites. But she soon realized she loved illustrating children's books the most!
In 1997, Jackie learned more about writing from another author named Jane Resh Thomas. After that, she sent her artwork to "Highlights" magazine. This led to her very first job illustrating a book called Spaghetti Eddie. Before focusing on children's books, she also worked on other art projects. Jackie is also known as the Artist-In-Residence at the Molesworth Institute, which shares funny library stories and information.
