Jacques Bral (born September 21, 1948 – died January 17, 2021) was a talented French film director, writer for movies (screenwriter), and producer. He also enjoyed painting.

About Jacques Bral
After finishing school at Alborz High School in Tehran, Jacques Bral moved from Iran to France in 1966. From 1966 to 1968, he studied architecture at Beaux-Arts de Paris. During this time, he also helped direct a short film called Quand tout le monde est parti.
He then directed his first full-length movies. These included M-88 in 1970 and Frisou in 1973. Both of these early films were made in black and white. In 1975, he directed Une baleine qui avait mal aux dents. This movie starred famous actors like Francis Blanche and Bernadette Lafont.
His Production Company
In 1978, Bral started his own movie production company called Les Films Noirs. This company helped release his film Extérieur, nuit in 1980. This movie was later updated and shown again at the Lumière Film Festival in Lyon in 2009. It was even re-released in movie theaters in 2010.
Later Films and Writing
In 1984, Bral directed a film called Polar. This movie was based on a book by Jean-Patrick Manchette. In 1989, he helped produce Street of No Return. This was the last movie made by the American director Samuel Fuller. Bral's own poetic film, Mauvais garçon, came out in 1993.
After directing many films, Jacques Bral started to focus more on writing movie scripts. He worked as both the director and screenwriter for the film Un printemps à Paris. This movie won a big award at the Police Paris New York Film Festival in 2007. In 2012, he directed and produced Black Really Suits You. This film was a romantic story about different cultures.
Jacques Bral passed away in Paris on January 17, 2021. He was 72 years old.
