Jacques Potgieter had a long and exciting career in rugby. He played for many different teams in South Africa, Japan, and Australia.

Early Career and Youth Teams

Jacques started playing rugby at a young age. In 2004, he played for the Eastern Province team in a big youth tournament called Craven Week. After that, he joined the Sharks youth teams.

He played for the Sharks in the Vodacom Cup for two seasons. Then, he moved back to play for the Eastern Province Kings in 2009.

Playing for the Bulls

In 2011, Jacques joined the Blue Bulls team. He signed a two-year contract with them. He also played for the Bulls in the Super Rugby competition.

Adventures Abroad: Japan and Australia

In 2013, Jacques decided to play rugby internationally. He joined a Japanese team called Fukuoka Sanix Blues. He played for them until 2017.

While playing in Japan, he also joined the Waratahs, an Australian team, for the 2014 and 2015 Super Rugby seasons. This allowed him to play in two different major leagues.

Return to South Africa

After his time abroad, Jacques returned to South Africa. In 2015, he signed a two-year deal to play for the Sharks again in 2016. However, he did not play any games for them due to an injury.

Later in 2016, he returned to the Bulls team in Pretoria. He signed another two-year contract with them.

Playing for South Africa

Jacques Potgieter also had the honor of playing for his country, South Africa. He became a "Springbok" (a player for the South African national team) on June 23, 2012. His first game for South Africa was against England at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.
