Jaime Ostos Carmona (born April 8, 1931 – died January 8, 2022) was a famous Spanish bullfighter. He was known for his bravery and skill in the bullring.

Life of a Bullfighter
Jaime Ostos began his bullfighting career in his hometown of Écija. His first public appearance was on June 1, 1952. He performed alongside another bullfighter, Bartolomé Jiménez Torres.
Early Career and Success
His first official bullfight with picadors (horsemen who help prepare the bull) happened on April 5, 1953, in Osuna. Jaime Ostos made his big debut as a bullfighter on October 13, 1956. This important event took place in the Plaza de Toros de Zaragoza. He was guided by his godfather, Miguel Báez Espuny. In 1959, he received the Trophea Manolete, a special award for bullfighters.
Facing Danger and Retirement
On July 17, 1963, Jaime Ostos was seriously injured by a bull in Tarazona. Many thought he would not survive. However, doctors saved his life with a large blood transfusion. This showed his incredible strength and resilience.
He announced his full retirement from bullfighting in 1974. Even after retiring, he took part in his very last event in 2003.
Later Life and Honors
In 1967, Jaime Ostos received an important honor. He was given the Cross with Distinctive of the Civil Order of Beneficence
. This award recognized his contributions and achievements.In March 2020, he became ill with COVID-19. He was admitted to a hospital in Madrid but recovered and was discharged two months later. Jaime Ostos passed away from a heart attack on January 8, 2022. He was 90 years old and was visiting Bogotá, Colombia, with his wife and friends.
