Early Life and Sports
When he was young, James played a lot of soccer. As a teenager, he was connected to the Western Sydney Wanderers soccer club.
He started playing Australian rules football when he was 13 years old. Soon after, he joined the Sydney Swans development academy. When James was 15, he had to choose between soccer and Australian rules football. He chose Australian rules football. This decision came after he trained with his hero, Adam Goodes. Adam Goodes was a Sydney Swans player and a two-time winner of the Brownlow Medal.
After this, James moved to Sydney. He joined the Swans' academy program full-time. His hard work paid off. The Swans chose him as a special rookie player in the 2017 AFL draft.
AFL Career Highlights
James Bell made his first AFL game for Sydney in 2019. This was in a game against the Port Adelaide team. He played 28 games and scored 10 goals for the Swans before the end of the 2022 season.
