James G. Walton (born November 9, 1917 – died January 13, 1947) was an important leader in a Christian church. He was also known as Reverend Lord James G. Walton or Elder James Walton. He was an African American minister, missionary, and writer. He helped Prophet Jones build the Church of Universal Triumph, Dominion of God, Inc. from 1938 until he passed away in 1947.

Early Life and Education
James G. Walton was born in Birmingham, Alabama, on November 9, 1917. His mother's name was Mary L. Walton. He went to Parker High School in Birmingham.
Working with Prophet Jones
Reverend Walton met Prophet Jones on October 16, 1934. This was shortly after he left high school. At that time, Prophet Jones was an evangelist. He worked for the Triumph Kingdom of God Prayer Band.
In 1935, James Walton and Prophet Jones traveled to St. Louis, Missouri. James Walton helped Prophet Jones lead meetings there. After that, they traveled to Chattanooga, Atlanta, and then Detroit.
In 1938, James Walton and Prophet Jones started a prayer group in Detroit. In 1945, Prophet Jones left his old church. James Walton left with him. He became a founding member of Prophet Jones's new church. This church was called Universal Triumph, the Dominion of God.
Important Roles in the Church
Reverend Walton was very important in the new church. He helped organize many "thankful centers" with Prophet Jones. These centers were in Missouri, Alabama, Tennessee, Colorado, Ohio, Chicago, and California.
He also wrote and published many books and pamphlets. These shared Prophet Jones's teachings. He had many other jobs too. He was the business manager and private secretary. He was also the international general recording secretary.
His most important role was "Dominion Executor." This meant he was the chairman of the Dominion Council. This council was the main governing body of the church. He also managed the California district of the church.
Personal Life and Appearance
Rev. Walton was known for dressing very well. He dressed exactly like Prophet Jones. He was always with Prophet Jones. People often saw him carrying the money bag. In the early 1940s, Rev. Walton was even seen in LIFE magazine. He was at a dining table with Prophet Jones and other church members.
Passing Away
Rev. Walton passed away on January 13, 1947. He was only 29 years old. He died at Grace Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. He had been sick for about a week with a kidney problem.
His funeral was held on January 23, 1947. It took place at Thankful Center No. 1 in Detroit. His body was then sent to Birmingham, Alabama, for burial. After the funeral, Prophet Jones said he would make November 9 a holiday. This holiday would be for all his followers.
