James Hewlett (1768–1836) was an English artist. He was famous for painting beautiful flowers.
Life of James Hewlett
James Hewlett was born on September 15, 1768. His father was a gardener. As a boy, James was friends with John Britton, who studied old things from Wiltshire.
James mostly worked in Bath. He painted flowers using water-colours. His paintings were known for their good drawing, bright colours, and how accurately they showed plants. Sometimes, he also painted other subjects, like gipsies. He showed his art at the Royal Academy and other art shows.
James Hewlett's Death
James Hewlett passed away on August 18, 1836. He died at Park House in Isleworth. He was buried in Isleworth Church. His wife had a monument built there to remember him.
