James MacArthur Moir (died 1872) was a Scottish miller and laird. A miller is someone who operates a mill, often for grinding grain into flour. A laird is a Scottish landowner, similar to a lord.
James MacArthur Moir owned a large area of land in Dunoon, Argyll and Bute, Scotland. Part of this land was his Milton estate. Two streets in Dunoon, McArthur Street and Moir Street, are named after him.
What is now called Dunoon's East Bay used to be known as Milton Bay. A small stream called Milton Burn still flows through Dunoon. It runs south and east before emptying into East Bay.

James MacArthur Moir was born to John MacArthur Moir of Milton and Hillfoot. His mother was Catherine Alexander.
Later Life and Contributions
In the 1870s, James MacArthur Moir made an important gift to the town of Dunoon. He donated a piece of his land known as Gallowhill to the local government, called the burgh. This donation helped the community.
