What Happened to Jamestown?

Jamestown began as a small community when James Bailey opened a store there. Imagine a general store where people could buy supplies! Another important person was Appleton Rich, who had a blacksmith's shop. A blacksmith makes and repairs things out of metal, like tools or horseshoes.

Later, a man named Allen Kelly bought the store from James Bailey. Kelly also started a tannery, which is a place where animal hides are turned into leather. He even became the postmaster, meaning he was in charge of the local post office. This shows that Jamestown was once a busy little place with important services.

However, after Allen Kelly sold his store, the town slowly became a ghost town. This means that people moved away, businesses closed, and the town became quiet and mostly empty.
