Jan Lisiecki is a talented Canadian classical pianist. He was born on March 23, 1995. Jan plays piano all over the world with many different orchestras and conductors. He started recording music for the famous company Deutsche Grammophon when he was just 15 years old. When he turned 18, Jan won important awards like the Gramophone Young Artist Award and the Leonard Bernstein Award.

Early Life and Learning Music
Jan Lisiecki was born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. He started taking piano lessons when he was five years old. By the time he was nine, he was already playing with an orchestra for the first time.
Playing for Big Festivals
When Jan was thirteen, he was invited to a special music festival in Warsaw, Poland, called "Chopin and his Europe". There, he played Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Sinfonia Varsovia orchestra. People at the festival were amazed by his performance. He was invited back the next year to play Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 1.
Becoming Famous
The Fryderyk Chopin Institute released recordings of Jan's performances from the festival. This was his first album, and it made him known around the world. The recording won an award called the Diapason d’Or Découverte. Music critics praised his "mature musicality." Soon after, when he was 15, Deutsche Grammophon signed an exclusive contract with him. This meant he would record music only for them.
In 2010, Jan performed for Queen Elizabeth II and a huge crowd of 100,000 people. This was part of the Canada Day celebrations on Parliament Hill in Ottawa.
School and Higher Education
Jan was very smart and skipped four grades in school. He finished high school in Calgary in January 2011. After that, he studied at The Glenn Gould School in Toronto. He received a full scholarship to attend this special music school.
