Jan Pietrzak (say it like: Yan Pyet-shak; born on April 26, 1937) is a famous person from Poland. He is known for being a satirist, which means he uses humor to make comments about society or politics. He is also a singer, songwriter, actor, and a writer for a newspaper called Tygodnik Solidarność (Solidarity Weekly).

Jan Pietrzak's Early Career
Jan Pietrzak started his career in Warsaw, the capital city of Poland. In the 1960s, he helped start a student club called Hybrydy. This club was a type of cabaret, which is a place where people perform songs, comedy, and plays, often in a relaxed setting. The Hybrydy club was active from 1962 to 1967.
Founding Pod Egidą
In 1967, Jan Pietrzak created another cabaret called Pod Egidą, which means "Under the Aegis." This cabaret became very popular in Warsaw. It was known for its clever and sometimes challenging performances. Jan Pietrzak used his humor and songs to express ideas that were different from what the government wanted people to think at the time. He became a well-known voice for people who wanted more freedom in Poland.
Music and National Recognition

The Song "Żeby Polska była Polską"
One of Jan Pietrzak's most famous songs is "Żeby Polska była Polską" ("So that Poland Could be Poland"). The music for this song was written by Włodzimierz Korcz. Golden Cross of Merit
In 1979, the government of the Polish People's Republic gave him the Golden Cross of Merit. This award recognized his contributions to Polish culture.
Order of Polonia Restituta
On May 3, 2009, the President of Poland honored Jan Pietrzak with the Order of Polonia Restituta. This is one of Poland's highest awards, given to people who have made outstanding contributions to the country.
