Jared Christopher Brossett, born in October 1982, is a former politician from New Orleans, Louisiana. He served as a member of the New Orleans City Council from February 2014 to January 2022. During his time on the City Council, he represented District D. He also served as a State Representative for District 97 in the Louisiana House of Representatives.
As a council member, Brossett led the Budget, Audit and Board of Review Committee. He was also part of other important committees, including Transportation and Economic Development. He was appointed by Governor John Bel Edwards to a special group focused on improving transportation and infrastructure.

Jared Brossett is the son of Brenda M. Brossett and Elery Michael Brossett. He grew up in New Orleans and went to McDonogh 35 Senior High School. After high school, he attended Xavier University of Louisiana. There, he earned a bachelor's degree in political science. This means he studied how governments work and how people make decisions in politics.
Brossett is also a member of the Orleans Parish Democratic Executive Committee. This group helps guide the Democratic Party's activities in Orleans Parish.
Brossett's Political Career
Before joining the City Council, Brossett was a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives. He represented District 97, which covers parts of New Orleans. He was first elected to this role in May 2009 during a special election. A special election happens when someone leaves office early, and a new election is held to fill their spot.
During his time in the state legislature, Brossett was the Chairperson of the Select Committee on Hurricane Recovery. In this role, he worked to make sure that programs helping the state recover after Hurricane Katrina were managed well. He also served on several other important committees. These included committees focused on state spending, government affairs, and homeland security.
When Brossett left the House of Representatives, another Democrat, Joseph Bouie, Jr., took his place. Joseph Bouie, Jr. was a retired professor and administrator from Southern University at New Orleans.
