Jason Carter's Football Journey
Early Days and Junior Football
Jason grew up in a small town called Wyndham. This town is located in the Kimberley region of Western Australia.
When he was younger, Jason played football for the Claremont colts team in 2017. He was also going to Aquinas College, Perth at the time.
Jason showed great talent early on. He played for Western Australia in the 2016 Under 16 National Championships. During this competition, he was chosen for the All-Australian team. This team features the best players from across the country.
He was also picked to play in the 2017 AFL Under 18 Championships. However, he got a knee injury during a practice game. This meant he couldn't play in the championships.
Joining the AFL
In early 2018, Jason was invited to join Fremantle's Next Generation Academy (NGA). The NGA program helps young players from different backgrounds develop their skills. After joining, he started playing for Peel Thunder. Peel Thunder is a team linked with Fremantle.
Later that year, Jason was drafted to Fremantle's rookie list. This happened through the NGA system during the 2018 AFL Draft. He made history by becoming the first NGA player to join Fremantle. He was also the first player from his hometown of Wyndham to be on an AFL team list.
In 2019, Jason spent most of the season playing for Peel Thunder. He played in the West Australian Football League (WAFL). In July, he was moved up to Fremantle's main team list. The next month, in August, he played his first AFL game. It was an exciting match where Fremantle won against Geelong.
Moving to WAFL Clubs
After his time with Fremantle, Jason continued his football career in the WAFL. He played for the Claremont Football Club from 2020 to 2023. In 2024, he moved to play for the South Fremantle Football Club.
