Jason Sherlock was born in Dublin, Ireland, on January 10, 1976. He is a famous Irish former Gaelic footballer. He played for the Dublin county team from 1995 to 2010.

Most of his club football was with Na Fianna in Glasnevin, a part of Dublin. With Na Fianna, he helped win the Dublin Championship in 1999, 2000, and 2001. In January 2007, he moved to play for St. Oliver Plunkett GAA.

Early Life and Education

Jason Sherlock grew up in Finglas, a northern area of Dublin. His mother was Irish, and his father was from Hong Kong. He went to school at St. Vincent's C.B.S..

Playing Career Highlights

Jason Sherlock started playing for Dublin's senior team in 1995. He was only 19 years old that year. It was a special year because Dublin won the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship. Jason scored important points in the semi-final against Cork and the final against Tyrone.

He also played professional soccer for UCD. Later, in August 1998, he joined Shamrock Rovers. He was their top goal scorer in his first season. While at UCD, he scored 31 goals in the League of Ireland. He also played one game for the Republic of Ireland U21 soccer team.

For a while, he played basketball too. But in 2003, he decided to focus only on football. After that, he got his spot back on the Dublin team. He was part of the team that won the Leinster Senior Football Championship in 2005. They beat Laois in the final, and he scored two points.

In the 2005 Leinster and All-Ireland Championship, he scored one goal and six points. In the 2005 National Football League, he scored one goal and one point. In the 2006 National Football League, he scored one point. This was because he didn't play as much in the first team.

He scored a very important goal in the 2006 Leinster Final against Offaly. His experience was a big help in that game. He was even nominated for an All Star Award in 2006 for how well he played.

In 2008, Jason was on Dublin's team that won the 2008 O'Byrne Cup. They played against Longford in the final. Jason came on as a substitute and scored two goals. These goals helped Dublin win the game in the last few moments.

Dublin won the Leinster championship for the fourth time in a row that year. However, they lost to Tyrone in the All-Ireland quarter-final. After a tough loss to Kerry in the All-Ireland quarter-final on August 3, 2009, Jason thought about retiring. But Pat Gilroy, the manager, convinced him to keep playing. Even though he planned to retire, Jason considered playing in the 2010 inter-county championship. In May 2010, after 15 years, the manager decided it was time for Jason to finish his inter-county career.

Jason Sherlock officially announced his retirement from football on June 1, 2013.

He was seen in a fun video with members of An Garda Síochána during the 2023 St. Patrick's Day Parade in New York. Many people watching found it very amusing.
