About Jay Richardson's Work
Jay Richardson started his work in the Arkansas House of Representatives in January 2019. Soon after, he and another new representative, Megan Godfrey, spoke up about Governor Asa Hutchinson's plans.
They asked the Governor not to cut taxes by 5.9%. Instead, they wanted more money to go to important things. These included building better highways and making pre-kindergarten education available to more kids.
Speaking for the Democratic Party, Richardson also asked the Governor to support a plan called the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC). Democrats believed this plan would help working families earn more money. He said that funding for roads and pre-kindergarten should be a top priority.
