Jean Liébault married a woman named Nicole Estienne. Nicole was also a writer. She wrote several books about marriage. In her writings, she spoke out against unfair treatment in marriage. She also thought that there should not be a big age difference between husbands and wives.

Jean's father-in-law was Charles Estienne. Charles had written a book called Praedieum rusticum. This book was about country life and farming.

La Maison Rustique: A Farming Guide

Jean Liébault took his father-in-law's book and made it much bigger and better. He added a lot of new information to it. The new book was written in French and called La Maison Rustique. This title means "The Country House" or "The Rural Home."

This book became very popular. It was first translated into English in 1600 by Richard Surflet. The English version was called "The Countrey Farme." An even bigger and more complete English edition came out in 1616. This book was a guide for people living in the countryside. It shared tips on farming, gardening, and managing a home.

Medical Writings
