Jeanette Aw Ee-Ping (born June 28, 1979), who also uses the name Ou Xuan, is a famous Singaporean actress, filmmaker, and writer. She became very well-known after being named one of the Seven Princesses of Mediacorp in 2006. Her role in the popular TV show The Little Nyonya made her a huge star.
Aw is one of Singapore's most popular celebrities. She has won a record-breaking 29 awards for her acting and popularity at the Star Awards, Singapore's main television awards show. Besides acting, she has written two books and even starred in a musical.
Her career started after she won a TV talent competition called Route to Glamour. She first appeared on screen in 2001. In 2003, she played a memorable character in the TV series Holland V. She later won her first Best Actress award for her role in the drama The Dream Makers II.

Early Life and Education
Jeanette Aw was born in Singapore and has an older brother and sister. As a child, she was quiet and loved to read, write, and draw. She dreamed of being a dancer, an artist, or a child psychologist.
Aw was a good student at all her schools, including the National University of Singapore. Her favorite subjects were English and English Literature. She was also very active in sports and arts. She did gymnastics, played the saxophone, and loved to dance, especially ballet. In university, she was the president of the dance group. She graduated with a degree in Theatre Studies.
Acting Career
2001–2007: Becoming a Star
In 2000, Aw won a talent competition called Route to Glamour, beating over 5,000 other people. After finishing her studies, she joined Mediacorp in 2002. She won the Best Newcomer award at the Star Awards 2002 for her role in Beautiful Connection.
In 2003, she starred in the hit drama Holland V. Her role as Mo Jingjing, a young woman with a low IQ, made her very popular with viewers. This role earned her a Best Actress nomination and her first "Top 10 Most Popular Female Artistes" award.
Over the next few years, she starred in many successful dramas. These included Spice Siblings, A Child's Hope II, and The Rainbow Connection. She continued to win popularity awards and was named one of the Seven Princesses of Mediacorp, a title for the seven most promising young actresses at the time.
2008–2014: The Little Nyonya and Major Success
Aw's biggest role came in 2008 with the drama The Little Nyonya. She played two different characters, a mother and her daughter. The show was a massive success and became the most-watched Singaporean drama in 15 years. It made Aw famous across Asia. Although she was nominated for Best Actress, she did not win, which surprised many fans.
After this success, she continued to star in popular shows. In The Dream Makers (2013), she played an actress trying to become famous. Viewers and critics loved her performance. At the Star Awards 20, she won five awards in a single year. She also received the "All-Time Favourite Artiste" award, a special honor for winning the "Top 10" popularity award ten times.
2015–2019: Winning Best Actress and New Projects
In 2015, Aw returned to play Zhao Fei Er in The Dream Makers II. Her performance as a character dealing with depression was highly praised. This time, she finally won the "Best Actress" award at the Star Awards 2016.
In 2017, Aw announced she was leaving Mediacorp to work on her own projects. She starred in the film Ramen Teh, which was shown at international film festivals. In 2019, she returned to television for the drama After The Stars.
Work Beyond Acting
Filmmaking and Writing
Aw started her own production company called Picturesque Films. In 2017, she wrote and directed a short film called The Last Entry. The film was inspired by her godmother's experience with Alzheimer's disease. It was selected for a film festival in Tokyo, Japan.
She has also published two books. Her first book, Jeanette Aw: Definitions (2012), shared parts of her personal life. Her second book, Sol's World: Somebody to Love (2015), is a picture book she illustrated herself.
Baking and Business
Aw has a passion for baking. She studied pastry-making at the famous Le Cordon Bleu culinary school in Bangkok and Tokyo. In 2021, she opened her own pastry shop in Singapore called Once Upon A Time. The shop became very popular.
