Jeannot Ahoussou-Kouadio was an important politician from Ivory Coast. He was born on March 6, 1951. He served as the Prime Minister of Ivory Coast from March to November 2012. Later, he became the first President of the Senate of Ivory Coast in April 2018. He held this important role until October 2023. Before these big jobs, he was also a minister for industry and justice.
Ahoussou-Kouadio was a member of the Democratic Party of Ivory Coast – African Democratic Rally (PDCI–RDA). This political party was led by former president Henri Konan Bédié. After being Prime Minister, he worked as the president of the Regional Council of Bélier Region. He also served as a Minister of State for Political Dialogue.

Early Life and Political Start
Jeannot Ahoussou-Kouadio was born in a place called Raviart. He trained to be a business lawyer. He joined the PDCI-RDA political party a long time ago. He held many different jobs within the party.
In 1999, he became a member of the Economic and Social Council of Ivory Coast. This council gives advice on economic and social issues. In December 2000, he was chosen to be a member of the National Assembly of Ivory Coast. He represented the area of Didievi and Tie-N'Diekro. In 2002, he became a Deputy Secretary-General for Legal Affairs for his party.
Becoming a Minister
In 2002, under President Laurent Gbagbo, Ahoussou-Kouadio became the Minister of Industry. He also worked to help private businesses grow. He stayed in this role until December 2005.
In 2010, he helped with the presidential election campaign for Henri Konan Bédié. When Bédié supported Alassane Ouattara in the second round, Ahoussou-Kouadio also helped Ouattara's campaign. After Ouattara became president, Ahoussou-Kouadio was appointed Minister of State for Justice and Human Rights in December 2010.
Prime Minister and Senate President
President Ouattara chose Ahoussou-Kouadio to be the Prime Minister on March 13, 2012. This was part of a promise to appoint someone from Bédié's party. As Prime Minister, he also continued to be in charge of justice. However, he was Prime Minister for less than a year. On November 21, 2012, Daniel Kablan Duncan took over the role.
After this, Ahoussou-Kouadio was appointed as a Minister of State at the Presidency in January 2013. Since 2013, he has been the president of the Regional Council of Bélier Region. In 2016, he became the Minister of State for Political Dialogue.
On April 10, 2018, he made history by becoming the first president of the Senate of Ivory Coast. The Senate is like a second parliament. He served in this important position until October 2023.
In July 2020, Ahoussou-Kouadio tested positive for COVID-19 while in Germany for a health check. He was not chosen again for the Senate in the elections held in September 2023.
