How JeemTV Started
JeemTV began as JCC on September 9, 2005. It was a project between the Qatar Foundation and Al Jazeera Media Network. The Qatar Foundation owned most of it at first.
In 2008, JCC became a member of the European Broadcasting Union. This group helps TV channels work together across Europe.
On January 16, 2009, JCC changed its look for the first time. This happened when its sister channel, Baraem, also launched. Baraem was for younger kids, so JCC then focused on children aged 7 to 14.
A special version of the channel for Europe started on November 1, 2012.
Becoming JeemTV
In February 2013, JCC announced a new look. On March 29, 2013, JCC officially changed its name to JeemTV. The name "Jeem" comes from the Arabic letter ج. You can see this letter in the channel's logo. With this change, JeemTV started focusing on kids aged 7 to 12.
On June 15, 2013, Al Jazeera became the full owner of the channel. Then, on April 1, 2016, JeemTV became a pay TV channel. This meant you had to subscribe to beIN Channels Network to watch it. The free version of the channel in Europe stopped on June 1, 2018.
What You Can Watch
JeemTV shows many different types of programs. These include:
- Debate shows where kids discuss topics.
- Educational programs about science, technology, and sports.
- Quizzes and game shows.
- Documentaries that teach you about the world.
- Live-action TV series with real actors.
- Animated TV series.
The channel also makes its own shows. One example is My Arabian House, which started in 2007. It used both live actors and puppets. JeemTV also works with other children's channels around the world to create shows.
Most shows from other countries are translated into Arabic. This is usually done by dubbing, where new voices are recorded in Arabic.
JeemTV Online
JeemTV has an interactive website that helps kids learn and be creative. The website is available in both Arabic and English. It has over 200 hours of fun and educational content. Kids can also upload their own pictures and videos to share with others.
Since January 16, 2009, shows for very young children (ages 3 to 6) have been shown on the Baraem channel.
How the Channel Looks
The first look of JCC was designed by a French company called Gédéon.
In 2009, Radiant Studios designed the new look for JCC and the new Baraem channel. A company called Fontsmith made the channel's font look slimmer. The short animated clips (idents) were made by Seed Animation Studio. The music for these clips was created by Mcasso.
The current JeemTV logo was designed by Tarek Atrissi. The overall look of the channel on screen was created by Jump Design.

In September 2011, both JCC and Baraem started broadcasting in a wider screen format (16:9) and in high definition (720p). This happened around JCC's sixth birthday.
In October 2012, the channel began broadcasting 24 hours a day.
JeemTV used to be available for free on many satellites, like Badr, Arabsat, Nilesat, Hotbird, Eurobird, and Freeview UK. It was also available through other TV providers in Europe.
